ISSUES

Working to grow our shared values and create positive change for hard-working Missouri families.
Education

Education is the bedrock of a thriving community and democracy. Every Missouri child should have access to a quality public education regardless of zip code. As your representative, I will fight to protect and strengthen our public schools.

I have seen firsthand the effects of a quality education. I would not be where I am today without the countless educators who pushed and nurtured me along the way. As an educator, I worked to ensure all my students had the chance to reach their full potential. As your representative, I will work even harder to ensure all Missouri students have that same opportunity.

To ensure every student has this opportunity, I will fight for a curriculum that is inclusive and relevant, for the resources our students and educators need to succeed, and for fair compensation for the educators and staff to put in the hard work day in and day out.

Healthcare

Every Missourian has the right to quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare. But, unfortunately, every year, countless Missourians are forced to put off care, either because they can’t afford it or they just can’t get an appointment.

While this is happening, the Republicans in the state government have fought for policies that reduce access and leave millions of federal dollars on the table. They are now fighting the Medicaid expansion the voters overwhelmingly supported and are doing so by trying to trick voters into overturning the thing they just voted for.

As your representative, I will fight for common-sense policies, including expanded mental health care access, protection of Medicaid expansion, and effective drug treatment programs. We, as a society, pay for healthcare one way or another. I will work to make sure we are doing it in the most humane and effective way possible.

The Economy

A truly strong economy works for everyone, not just the wealthy few. As your representative, I will fight for policies that support the many and fight against those policies that privilege the few.

The ability of workers to bargain collectively has been strengthening economies for generations. In 2018, Missourians said no to so-called Right to Work laws, yet many individuals in government still try to undermine unions at every turn. I support Missouri’s unions and will work to ensure they can grow and continue to build the middle class.

We also must ensure Missouri is in a place to be a leader in the future economy. I will support policies that do just that, such as job training, support for small businesses and entrepreneurs, and investment in 21st-century infrastructure.

Civil Rights

Everyone deserves to live and work with dignity. However, the reality is that many people are treated differently due to their race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other reasons. As a civil rights attorney, I fight for individuals who face discrimination when they go to work, try to get housing, and attempt to access public accommodations like education. As your representative, I will continue this fight by advocating for policies to protect people from discrimination and hold those who discriminate accountable.

Republicans have passed legislation that makes it easier for employers, landlords, or businesses to discriminate based on race, age, religion, or gender. Until a Supreme Court decision in 2020, it was legal in Missouri for employers to discriminate against employees based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. As your representative, I will fight against measures that legalize discrimination, for laws protecting oppressed communities, and for a more effective and efficient system for the oppressed to seek justice.
