About the Campaign:
Jessie Shepherd is a Democrat running for Missouri House of Representatives, District 114, on a platform rooted in expanding access to healthcare, improving public education, supporting working families, and restoring trust in local government. Jessie is a dedicated disability rights advocate who brings integrity, compassion and a tireless work ethic to her campaign. We're building a people-powered movement — and we’re looking for a passionate Volunteer Coordinator to help lead it.
Position Overview:
The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to support key campaign operations including canvassing, phone banking and community events. This role is essential to mobilizing grassroots support and turning out the vote in Jefferson County.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit & Onboard Volunteers: Connect with local supporters, student groups, community leaders, and allies to build a strong and diverse volunteer base.
- Training & Supervision: Organize and facilitate volunteer training sessions on campaign messaging, canvassing, phone banking, and voter engagement.
- Scheduling & Communication: Develop weekly schedules and maintain regular contact with volunteers to confirm shifts and provide updates.
- Database Management: Track volunteer activity and maintain accurate records using campaign tools (e.g., Google Sheets, Mobilize, or NGP VAN).
- Event Coordination: Assist in organizing and staffing campaign events, town halls, and canvassing launches, ensuring all volunteer roles are filled and supported.
- Community Building: Foster a welcoming and inclusive team environment that keeps volunteers energized and engaged throughout the campaign.
Qualifications:
- Experience in volunteer organizing, community outreach, or grassroots campaigning is preferred, but not required.
- Excellent people skills; ability to motivate and communicate with individuals from all backgrounds.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Comfortable with technology and tools like Zoom, texting platforms, or voter outreach apps.
- Familiarity with Jefferson County and Missouri politics is a plus.
- Commitment to Jessie’s progressive values and vision for District 114.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
