About Rene Vance

A Lifetime of Service, A New Mission for Missouri

"My uniform has changed over the years, but my oath to protect and serve the people of this community has never wavered."

A Trailblazer in Uniform

I was born into a military family, where the values of duty and honor were instilled in me from day one. In 1978, I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at a time when women were just beginning to break into non-traditional roles. I didn't just join; I wanted to lead. As an Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanic, I mastered everything from jet engines and hydraulics to complex electronics.

My commitment to excellence led me to serve as a technical instructor for over three years, sharing my skills with the next generation of airmen. I eventually transitioned to the USAF Reserves and the Florida Air National Guard, medically retiring in 1992 after nearly 18 years of dedicated service.

A Neighbor Who Knows the Meaning of Hard Work

When I talk about the "working class," I’m talking about the life I have lived. My civilian career is a testament to the grit and resilience that define Missourians. I have rolled up my sleeves in nearly every corner of the workforce:

  • In our schools: Serving as a school bus driver and substitute teacher.
  • In public safety: Working as a correctional officer.
  • In our local economy, I have worked as a maintenance supervisor at a lumber yard, a farmhand, and in retail management.

I know what it’s like to work for a paycheck, manage a household budget, and look out for my neighbors. Since moving to Sedalia in 2016, I have made it my mission to give back to the town that welcomed me so warmly.

Dedicated to Our Seniors, Veterans, and Community

Today, you’ll often find me out and about in Pettis County. Whether I am serving as a board member for the Sedalia Senior Center, personally delivering meals to homebound seniors, or serving as the program director for the local chapter of the NAACP, I am always on the move for others. My commitment to Pettis County seniors included serving as a Silver Hair Representative. I have since stepped down from this nonpartisan position to transition into a more active role working towards being your Missouri State Representative.

As the mother of a Navy sailor and a grandmother, I understand that the decisions made in Jefferson City today will shape the world for our children tomorrow. I am running for State Representative because I believe District 52 deserves a leader who has spent a lifetime doing the work—not just talking about it.

Why Me?

  • I’m a Fixer: From jet engines to community issues, I have the technical mind and the discipline to find practical solutions.
  • I’m a Listener: My volunteer work keeps me grounded in the real, everyday struggles of our seniors and families.
  • I’m a Patriot: My service didn't end when I took off the uniform. I am ready for a "Second Service" in the Missouri House.
