About Kathy Steinhoff

I have taught math for 34 years in Columbia Public Schools, including at West Junior, Jefferson Junior, and Hickman High School. I have served as the Mathematics Department Chair and a member of the school's Leadership Team. In 2011, I was awarded the 2011 NEA Member Benefits Award for Teaching Excellence. I have been extensively involved with my local teacher’s union, where I have served in many capacities, including as President from 2015 to 2021. As a member of the Bargaining Team, I’ve fought for improved compensation and working conditions for teachers across the district.

I’m running for state representative because our students are under attack by the politicians and special interests in Jefferson City. They are trying to systematically dismantle Missouri’s public education system and they’ve made sure Missouri has the loosest gun laws in the country. As a teacher who has gone through too many classroom shelter-in-place drills, I’ll go to Jefferson City to:

  • Protect public education
  • Combat the gun violence epidemic
  • Fight for social equity for all Missourians

I’m also a member of Moms Demand Action and a long-time member of Our Lady of Lourdes parish. I live in Columbia with my husband, Doug, and am a proud mother and grandmother.

I can’t wait to see you on the campaign trail!
